Los Angeles Clippers: 2020-21 Record – 47-25, Last Playoff Appearance: 2021

Target: G Kemba Walker (Oklahoma City Thunder)

All season long, the talk about the Los Angeles Clippers has been that they need to address the point guard position, however, they currently find themselves in the Western Conference Finals. Whether or not they make it to the NBA Finals and potentially win a championship, the talk of the offseason for the Clippers will be that they need a point guard. 

Patrick Beverley and Rajon Rondo are not the future of this team’s backcourt and could both be on the move this offseason. Reggie Jackson has been great for them, but again, he is not the future point guard of this organization, so where do the Clippers go from here? 

Well, they could target a young, do-it-all kind of guy like Lonzo Ball in NBA free agency, but they could also go after an established star in Kemba Walker, who was recently traded to the OKC Thunder this offseason. 

As a result of just being traded, Walker cannot be traded again until July 7. Adding Kemba Walker to the Clippers does not seem like a good idea at first because of the cap hit he carries with him, but talent-wise, he would fit in perfectly next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Kemba Walker has never been known to be a selfish basketball player and is not a ball-reliant player, which is why he could easily be the point guard the Clippers are looking to add. He can pass, he can facilitate and he can shoot from the perimeter, which is exactly what Los Angeles will be looking for. 

The two bad things about trading for Walker though is that he is owed $73.6M over the course of the next two seasons and he has been dealing with lingering knee issues. These could be yellow flags for the Clippers in a potential trade, but overall, Kemba Walker is a very talented player that could be the difference in the Clippers winning a title.
