3 players the Pacers should target in a potential Myles Turner trade

Playoff disappointment has been a common trend in Indiana for years now, but this season, they did not even make the NBA playoffs! The Indiana Pacers fell short of reaching the postseason for the first-time since the 2014-15 season after losing to the Washington Wizards in the 8-seed play-in game in this year’s play-in tournament.

With the play-in tournament not counting as the regular season, nor the postseason, Indiana was basically trapped in a “purgatory” state this year in terms of whether or not they actually participated in “postseason basketball” since technically, the play-in tournament is post-season.

I don’t make the rules, so anyways, the Pacers are a very talented team with plenty of All-Star capable players in Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon and T.J. Warren (who missed pretty much the entire year due to a foot injury), but they will be looking for ways to break through during the 2021-22 season.

With head coach Nate Bjorkgren out after just one year, the Pacers are in a “win-now” mode as an organization and they have no time for the shenanigans that happened this season. That was only reaffirmed with the hire of Rick Carlisle who has praised Turner repeatedly in the past as the ‘prototypical five’ in today’s NBA. However, two bigs is not an answer.

As a result, Indiana could look to move on from one of their core players in the offseason. The one name that instantly comes to mind even though he is a highly talented player is Myles Turner.

Over the last year, Turner has seen his name come up a lot in NBA trade rumors and every single time, both he and the Pacers say they are not looking to move on from each other, but at some point, you have to imagine that these rumors could become true.

Moving on from Turner in the offseason could definitely give the Pacers immediate value to contend in the Eastern Conference, but what players should they look to target?

Let’s take a look at three players the Indiana Pacers will be looking at in a potential trade involving Myles Turner this offseason.
