1. Trade young players, draft capital
With Leon Rose and William Wesley leading the way, the New York Knicks finally look to have a plan in place and be on the right path. They have some intriguing young players and an All-Star in place. This offseason, they have a ton of cap space and multiple draft picks to continue upgrading the roster. New York has assets and if they want to be 2022 NBA Finals contenders, they need to turn some of them into bonafide superstars.

Damian Lillard is atop many fan’s wish lists as he wrote some cryptic captions on social media following yet another first-round exit for the Portland Trail Blazers. Head coach Terry Stotts parted ways with the organization, so his situation is one to keep an eye on.
Bradley Beal is another All-Star that will assuredly hear his name in the rumor mill this offseason. The Washington Wizards had a great finish to the season with him and Russell Westbrook healthy, but would Washington be better off cashing in on him in a trade than possibly losing him as a free agent in 2022?
The situations with the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans are both worth watching as well. Dallas is overhauling its front office and coaching staff, which could lead to Luka Doncic’s displeasure. Some reports are floating around that Brandon Ingram doesn’t want to play alongside Zion Williamson with concerns over their long-term fit and Williamson himself may not be long for New Orleans.
While a lot of these rumors don’t hold water, if New York wants to win the title in 2022, they have to be aggressive in upgrading the roster. If that means parting ways with some of the younger players or draft picks, it is something they have to seriously consider.
