2. Sign Kawhi Leonard
The quickest way for the New York Knicks to become contenders this offseason is to land the biggest name in free agency in Kawhi Leonard. Now, it is anyone’s guess if Leonard wants to leave Los Angeles, but it has to rub someone like him the wrong way that they advanced to the Western Conference Finals with him watching from the sidelines.

Leonard suffered a knee injury in Game 4 of the Clippers’ second-round series against the Utah Jazz. Shockingly, they went on to win Game 5 in Salt Lake City and Game 6 back in Los Angeles to advance to face off with the Phoenix Suns. Leonard was on the sideline for those two games and could very well be out the remainder of the postseason.
If Leonard is healthy, the Knicks should do everything in their power to aggressively pursue him. He is the quintessential Thibodeau player, as he is arguably the greatest defender on the planet and has turned himself into an efficient, deadly offensive weapon.
Adding him to a Knicks starting five that has an upgrade at the point guard spot, Barrett, Randle and Mitchell Robinson would be a contending lineup in the Eastern Conference. While Reggie Bullock had a nice season, Leonard represents a massive upgrade at small forward.
