The Houston Rockets are fresh off of a crazy 2020-21 NBA season that saw them part ways with superstar shooting guard James Harden midway through the season. Now, heading into the offseason, the Rockets could look to rebuild or acquire a superstar to build around. One name to keep an eye on could be Minnesota Timberwolves superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns, who many think could be moved.

Making a trade to acquire Towns would not come cheap for the Rockets. However, if they were able to acquire him, they would have a centerpiece to build around. Towns is one of the most underrated superstars in the game and would be an addition that would put the Rockets back on the map in the Western Conference.

During the 2020-21 season with the Timberwolves, Towns ended up averaging 24.8 points per game to go along with 10.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 blocks. He shot 48.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.7 percent of his three-point attempts.

Those numbers show why he is exactly the kind of franchise cornerstone the Rockets should try to acquire. He can score in the post, make the right pass to open teammates, rebound at a high level, and he can step out and knock down the perimeter shot. Houston, among many other teams, would love to have a player with those abilities.

All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at how the Rockets could pull off a trade with the Timberwolves for Karl-Anthony Towns this offseason.
