Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?

The Washington Wizards managed to sneak into the NBA postseason with the eighth seed after getting the job done in the play-in tournament. This was no surprise given their cast of characters led by Westbrook and Bradley Beal. They were eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers and it could finally be time to see a complete rebuild.

The Wizards have been a rebuilding team but they have always kept that star name on the roster. When John Wall was sent away, it seemed likely that Bradley Beal could be next but the two sides have not reached that split just yet. In fact, the Wizards went the opposite direction when they made a deal to bring in Russell Westbrook.

The franchise has a decision to make whether they want to build around there two stars or send them away for a huge hauls to continue the rebuild. With their current state, it would make sense to trade Russell Westbrook for a large haul.

Even in a weak Eastern Conference, the Wizards are not close to competing. This means we could finally see them send away their big names in some blockbuster deals. This particular trade scenario would clear substantial salary cap room after the upcoming season.
