Golden State Warriors Receive: F Gordon Hayward
Charlotte Hornets Receive: C James Wiseman, F Andrew Wiggins
When healthy, Gordon Hayward turned in a productive season for the Charlotte Hornets. There is just valid concern regarding whether or not it would be in the team’s best interest to hold onto him long-term in favor of landing pieces that align better with the timeline of franchise-guard LaMelo Ball.
Hayward would bring the Golden State Warriors another weapon on the perimeter and fit into their style of play. With Stephen Curry playing at a legitimate MVP level, it’s vital the team is doing everything in their power to surround him with pieces, especially with Klay Thompson making his return to the lineup sometime next season.

If the Hornets are looking for a big man, they could find one available in NBA free agency or in the trade market. While it come at the cost of Hayward, it would be James Wiseman who would lead to return going back to the Hornets from the Warriors, along with Andrew Wiggins. That’s what it takes to land a recent No. 2 overall pick who has shown flashes of promise.
From a salary cap standpoint, the Warriors would end up clearing $10.8 million in spending for the 2021-22 season but would be paying Gordon Hayward a season longer than the two-years that Wiggins has left on his contract. Hayward will earn $29.9 million during the upcoming NBA campaign while Wiggins ($31.5M) will command slightly more with James Wiseman sitting at $9.1 million.
Let’s take a closer look and see this NBA trade scenario centered around Gordon Hayward would impact both the Charlotte Hornets and Golden State Warriors.
