Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
With a new head coach coming in for the Blazers, they will most likely wait to make any deals, but adding a veteran, experienced wing like Terrence Ross definitely brings a lot of benefits to the Blazers. Not only was he one of the better bench players in the league this year, but with Nirman Powell likely to opt out of his contract and enter NBA free agency, Portland will need another reliable wing player to replace him.

In 46 games with Orlando this year, Terrence Ross averaged 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and shot 41.2% from the floor, 33.7% from three-point range. Over the last few years in Orlando, Ross has been playing the best basketball of his career and while he is 30-years-old, he is currently in the prime of his career.
With a favorable contract given his contributions on the offensive-end of the court, he is definitely a player that the Trail Blazers should be interested in investing in and in this trade scenario with the Magic, they would absolutely be getting a fair deal.
Nassir Little and Derrick Jones Jr. did not really play a big role with Portland this year and while a new head coach could incorporate them in his new system, Terrence Ross is a much better player than both of them combined, which is why this trade is worthwhile for the Blazers.
Not to mention, Portland would also get the 33rd pick in this year’s draft from the Magic in this trade, giving them the ability to potentially draft a prospect that had first-round potential, but slipped in the draft. That 33rd overall pick definitely holds a lot of value, which is why this trade is definitely something that makes sense for the Blazers in the offseason.
