New York Knicks
Coming to terms on a deal with the Knicks might be tough, but New York does have quite a few assets to utilize in a trade. They could form a package built around Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, or Kevin Knox II with draft pick attached to them. Would that be enough to get Tyler Herro from the Heat? Maybe not, but they should at least try to make a deal.
New York desperately needs to bring in a long-term fit at the point guard position. Herro has shown at times that he can be a top-notch creator for his teammates in addition to being able to score himself.
Julius Randle took a big leap into stardom this season with the Knicks. Derrick Rose was a big addition ahead of the NBA trade deadline, but he isn’t a great long-term running mate for Randle and RJ Barrett. Herro, on the other hand, would be exactly the kind of young point guard that New York needs to bring in.
If the Knicks were able to acquire Herro from the Heat, they would instantly become a more dangerous contender in the Eastern Conference. Herro would be given the reigns of the offense as the clear-cut starting point guard. That role could be what the young guard needs to unlock his full potential.
A deal with the Knicks may not be terribly likely, but it’s one that should be explored by New York this offseason.
