Miami Heat Receive: C/F Kristaps Porzingis

Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Goran Dragic, F Andre Iguodala, F/C Precious Achiuwa, 2025 1st Round Pick

Kristaps Porzingis will be on his way to the Miami Heat in this NBA trade scenario. The former All-Star would be dealt away from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Goran Dragic, Andre Drummond, and Precious Achiuwa. While that isn’t a star-studded return, it’s a functional one that would mostly be meant to provide long-term salary cap relief.

The Mavericks would send out Porzingis’ salary of $31.6 million in 2021-22 while freeing themselves of paying him the $69.8 million he is owed additionally over the following two seasons. Having rapidly increased long-term flexibility in the spending department would go a long way in surrounding Luka Doncic with better fitting pieces to help in the NBA playoffs.

Goran Dragic and Andre Iguodala both will be on expiring contracts assuming the Miami Heat were to pick up both of their team options. Dragic will earn $19.4 million during the upcoming season while Iguodala will receive $15.0 million of his own. Preicous Achiuwa is on a rookie deal for the next three seasons and will earn $2.7 million in 2021-22.

Achiuwa would be the only player signed for the 2021-22 season for the Mavericks in this NBA trade scenario. He will receive just $2.7 million after the upcoming season – resulting in Dallas clearing $31.1 million in salary cap spending room for the 2022-23 league year.
