Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Eric Gordon would be a really nice addition for the Timberwolves because he is a veteran, experienced player that could come off-the-bench in the second-unit. While his season was cut short to just 27 games due to multiple injuries this year, Gordon still played better than any bench player the Timberwolves have, averaging 17.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shooting 43.3% from the floor.
He is exactly the kind of player the Timberwolves should be looking to target, even if he is under contract for years to come and is owed nearly $59M through the end of his contract. Not to mention, the Timberwolves would also pick up a first-round pick in this trade, which could be huge since they could lose their first-round pick this year to the Warriors.

Towns, Russell, Edwards and Beasley are the core of the T-Wolves and are all going to play really well together next year should they be able to stay healthy, but this team is still a long way away from being something special.
They need to have viable options they can turn to off-the-bench and with the addition of Eric Gordon, they would have an experienced player that they can rely on for production if somebody is not playing well or if somebody is injured in the starting rotation.
There really is not anything not to like about this trade if you are the Timberwolves, which is why they should absolutely consider going after Eric Gordon this offseason. Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie and Juan Hernangomez are all talented players, but none of these three guys are going to be x-factors for Minnesota moving forward.
