Houston Rockets Receive: G Jarrett Culver, F Juancho Hernangomez, G/F Josh Okogie

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Eric Gordon, POR 2021 1st Round Pick (via HOU)

With Eric Gordon now being 32-years-old now and on the declining end of his career, he could want to go somewhere where he can compete for championships, which is why going to Minnesota could be a long-shot.

However, the Rockets could easily trade him to Minnesota if they wanted to, which is why this trade is definitely something that could realistically happen. The Rockets are looking to acquire draft picks and/or young talent, which is why this trade could be interesting for them.

Jarrett Culver is 22-years-old, Josh Okogie is 22-years-old and Juancho Hernangomez is 25-years-old, making all three of these guys bible young talents for the Rockets to consider. None of these three guys made a big impact in Minnesota this year, but they all bring something unique to the table for Houston.

Culver is a very athletic guard that stands 6’6” and was drafted 6th overall in 2019. He only played in 34 games this year due to an ankle injury, but overall, he did show flashes of his full potential and could easily grow into a high-flying player at the shooting guard or small-forward position.

Okogie finished up his third season with the Timberwolves this year and while he is not much of a scorer, he is a really solid one-on-one defender on the perimeter, which is something Houston will be looking to add in the offseason.

As for Juancho Hernangomez, he is a more experienced player than both Culver and Okogie, but he is also a much better three-point shooting threat than the both of them. Hernangomez shot just 32.7% from deep this season, but he is a career 35.1% three-point shooter, making him a perimeter threat Houston could add to their rotations.

With Gordon being owed $58.7M over the next three seasons, the Rockets could very much look to move him this offseason and if they can get this kind of value from the Timberwolves, this is definitely a trade they could consider. With that said, let’s take a look at if this trade truly makes sense for both the Rockets and Timberwolves to make this offseason.
