Trade him?

Hypothetically, the easy answer on how to get rid of Kevin Love is to trade him, but what team is going to want to acquire 32-year-old Kevin Love, who is still owed $60.2M fully-guaranteed through the 2022-23 season? Yep, that is correct – absolutely nobody!

Finding a trade partner for Kevin Love will be like trying to find the lost city of Atlantis. It is definitely possible, and the Cavaliers could definitely use the treasures that lie in the city of Atlantis to possibly bribe a team into taking Love, but finding a trade partner is close to impossible at this time.

In his 13th season in the NBA this season, Love averaged 12.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and shot 36.5% from three-point range in just 25 games. While he has said numerous times that Cleveland is his home and he wants to remain with the Cavaliers, Love’s frustrations have visibly been seen during the season and he is just saying this so he can get his full “pay day.”

For $60M over the course of the next two years, anybody would say they want to remain with their current situation, even if they are losing and suffering because Love isn’t doing anything to earn this money! He is “playing” in games for the Cavaliers, but is he really doing anything to help them?

This contract that he got prior to the 2019-20 season was an absolute steal by him and his agent and it is quite possible that the Cavaliers did not realize the giant grins on both Love and his agent’s face when they were putting pen to paper on this contract.

Nonetheless, Kevin Love being traded seems like a huge long-shot at this time and something that is still an option, but might as well not be.
