The series is over

To be fair, this series was probably over after the Bucks blasted the Heat in Game 2 in Milwaukee, but now, after blasting them on their home court, it is all but over for the Miami Heat. They had a great turn around during the regular season, going from one of the worst records in the East to making the playoffs and avoiding the NBA play-in tournament, but they have some big changes to make in the offseason.

Jimmy Butler has been alright in this series, but then again, he has been guarded by Giannis Antetokounmpo almost half of the time. After a bad Game 1, Bam Adebayo has also turned things around and has had a pretty decent series, but this Heat team just does not have the firepower they really need to be competitive in the Eastern Conference.

It is not fair to say that 2020 was a fluke for the Miami Heat in terms of them winning the Eastern Conference because last year, the 76ers were not the same team they are this year, the Nets are 1000x better because of Durant, Irving and Harden being on the floor and even this Bucks team that they beat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals is much better because they added guys like Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Bryn Forbes and P.J. Tucker.

The Heat were great last year in terms of coming together and having numerous guys that they could lean on for points here and there, but this year in the playoffs, they really do not have many guys that will scare teams.

Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are going to do their thing sometimes, but Duncan Robinson is nothing more than a “roll-the-dice” three-point shooter, Tyler Herro is not the best player from the 2019 NBA Draft like the Heat think he is and guys like Trevor Ariza, Andre Iguodala and Goran Dragic are not going to be elite-level scorers.

Victor Oladipo, Trevor Ariza, Nemanja Bjelica, Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn are going to be free agents and there is a possibility that the Heat decline the options of both Andre Iguodala and Goran Dragic for next year in order to possibly bring in a third superstar talent.

Next year’s Heat team is going to look a lot different than this year’s team and while their season is likely to end in Game 4 on Saturday, the offseason will definitely be exciting for them in terms of going after the best of the best to pair with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
