Why The Trade Benefits The Pacers
Unlike Houston, Indiana believes that they should be in the postseason every year and could look to add some more good players.
The Pacers had a bit of a down year, but still ended up in the play-in tournament and one game away from a series with top-seeded Philadelphia in the first round. The front office cannot be happy with how the season went, which means we could see some big moves coming out of Indiana.
We have seen players like Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis thrown around in trade rumors. Once Oladipo was dealt, the focus shifted for the Pacers. Myles Turner was another name that was thrown around. If the team decides to stay where they are, Gordon could be on their radar.
He is a player with postseason experience that could act as a voice on and off the floor. Gordon is a capable three-point shooter and would bring a new dynamic to the offense of the Pacers.
This is not to say that this is a move that will have Indiana competing with the likes of the Nets and Sixers, but it is one that would improve their rotation right away. If the market is low, the Pacers could get Gordon at a discounted price, which is another benefit.
