In his first season as head coach, Tom Thibodeau has made the Knicks a Top-4 team in the East
Everywhere Tom Thibodeau has gone, he has found success being a head coach, yet he is still one of the more underrated and under-appreciated coaches in the entire league! He started as the head coach of the Bulls from 2010-2015, leading them to a 255-139 record over that timespan and 5 consecutive playoff appearances that included a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 and two Central Division Titles.
After being relieved of his duties in Chicago following the 2014-15 season, Thibs then went to Minnesota, where he took the Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance in 14 years. This apparently was not good enough for Minnesota either and Thibodeau was fired during the 2018-19 season.

Thibs did not coach last year, but due to his relationship with both Scott Perry and Leon Rose, he was able to land the head coaching job with the Knicks and this is looking like the best coaching hire of the year.
Not only does he have the Knicks as one of the best defensive teams in the league, but Thibs has coached the Knicks to a 41-31 record, their best win percentage since the 2012-13 season.
Tom Thibodeau does ask a lot of his players and always looks to bring out the best in them, which can sometimes be a grueling task, but he is definitely one of the better coaches in the league given the impact he has had everywhere he has coached. Wherever he seems to coach, success follows Tom Thibodeau and it has followed him to the Mecca of basketball in Madison Square Garden.
