Bring in a couple of key veteran players
When you look at Minnesota’s roster this year, it is very clear to see that they are a young and inexperienced team, as Ricky Rubio and Ed Davis are the only two veteran players with more than 5 years of experience in the league. Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell both have 5 years of experience playing in the league, but really neither of them have had any postseason experience.
The Timberwolves are far from being a playoff team at this point, but they are going to need to bring in some veteran players who are experienced in terms of getting to the playoffs and finding success.

Adding some depth behind Karl-Anthony Towns and on the wing may not be such a bad idea, especially if they can bring in guys like DeMarcus Cousins, Markieff Morris or someone like JaVale McGee, all of which have a lot of postseason experience.
Veteran talents are a key of any team and for the Timberwolves, a team with a lot of guys who have only been in the league for a couple years, having these experienced players is vital for success.
While they do not have much cap space, using their MLE to sign some key veetran talents would be a really smart move by this front-office, especially since they have five guys on their roster making over $10M next season and no room to bring in another high-caliber player financially speaking.
