Why Ja Morant will be a top 5 PG… but isn’t just yet

Ja Morant has more confidence in himself than anyone has in him

One of my favorite things about Ja Morant is that he never backs down to anybody and always exhibits confidence in himself that nobody else does. The Grizzlies believe in Morant 100% and fully support him as their franchise point guard for the foreseeable future, but Ja Morant fully believes that he can be more than just a franchise point guard.

At just 21-years-old, Morant is doing things with the Grizzlies that many young players do not show until they are in the later stages of their careers. He is in his second season in the league, yet Ja Morant almost acts like a multi-year veteran and is respected by his opponents as this kind of player as well.

Recently, on TNT’s postgame show, Shaquille O’Neal asked Morant where he rates himself amongst point guards in the league and Morant responded that he is definitely in the Top-5 for point guards in the league.

While Morant may not be a Top-5 point guard in this league just yet, he fully believes that he is and at the end of the day, that is all that matters. He does not care what people write about him or what people say about him because Morant fully believes he can be great.

Exhibiting this type of confidence in himself in just his second season in the league shows what kind of leader Morant is and how much he fully believes that both he and his team can be great moving forward.
