Does this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
Christian Wood has arguably been the best and most important player on the Rockets roster all season long, but James Wiseman definitely makes more sense for them in terms of rebuilding. This year, the Rockets are likely going to end up with the worst record in the league and next year, it is safe to say they probably will miss the playoffs again.

As a result, this means they will be focusing more on developing their young talents, which could be exactly what Wiseman needs to become an All-Star level center in this league. With the Warriors, he will still be developing and they will be devoting time to helping him grow as a player, but they are more in on the idea of winning a championship than developing their players.
This could result in Kevon Looney or someone else getting more playing time in clutch situations rather than Wiseman, especially if he is still going through growing pains in the league next year.
With the Rockets, Wiseman would see 30+ minutes per game and with other young, high-level talents, Houston could wind up having one of the best young cores in the entire league. Not only could this make their future potential for success extremely high, but they could vault back into the playoff conversation fairly quickly.
Christian Wood is a great player and was a fantastic pick up by the Rockets, but James Wiseman can do more for the future of this organization, which is why this trade is worthwhile for them.
