Dallas Mavericks

While they are in a better position roster wise than the Washington Wizards, the Dallas Mavericks are in a similar spot as the Wizards in the sense that Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are the only two consistent options on this team.

Tim Hardaway Jr, Josh Richardson, Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith are all solid options, but none of them really stick out as key, consistent offensive weapons for this team. The Mavericks have struggled on and off this year with consistency, which is why they will be on the hunt for a third, proven talent in the offseason.

Bringing in Kevin Love would definitely make things difficult on the Mavericks finances, as they are hoping to pursue some key free agent targets in the offseason, but he would create a steady frontcourt next to Porzingis.

Both guys have the ability to crash the glass and they both are also big guys who love to live on the perimeter, particularly in pick-and-roll sets. Luka Doncic thrives in pick-and-roll basketball, which is why this pairing could make a lot of sense.

Overall though, Love’s contract is just too much to ask the Mavericks to take on at this time and they can probably get more value for their cap space in NBA free agency or via another trade rather than trading for a veteran guy like Kevin Love.
