Saddiq Bey – Detroit Pistons

Not enough good things can be said about how great Saddiq Bey has been for the Detroit Pistons this season. Drafted 19th overall, Bey was expected to be a guy that would take a year or two to get acclimated to the NBA, but from his first game in the league, Saddiq Bey looked as comfortable as a multi-year veteran.

He has started in just about 70% of the games he has played in for the Pistons this year and even though they have been near the bottom of the league in the standings all season long, Bey has still carved out a key role with them both now and moving forward.

In 56 games this year, Saddiq Bey has averaged 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and has shot 37.9% from three-point range. Bey’s perimeter shooting has been so impressive this year and in fact, he made 7 three-pointers against the Boston Celtics on February 12th, which is tied for the third most threes made by a rookie in a single game in NBA history.

Saddiq Bey has made a total of 132 three-pointers this season, which is two behind Anthony Edwards for the rookie lead, and with 14 games left remaining on the Pistons’ schedule, Bey has a chance to climb the rookie list for most three-pointers made in a season by a rookie. Donovan Mitchell holds the record with 187 made three-pointers during his rookie year, but with Bey averaging about 2.4 made threes per game, he could come close to Mitchell’s record should he put together more dazzling performances like he had against the Celtics.
