Why This Trade Would Benefit The Indiana Pacers
Victor Oladipo was an obvious move for the Pacers. He was coming off an injury and on an expiring contract. The two sides knew that there was no mutual agreement but the Pacers did not expect for this to have a domino effect. Oladipo could be the first of many big moves for the Pacers in the future.
It seems likely that Indiana will trade one of their big men. Sabonis has risen to an NBA All-Star level and the Pacers should hold on to him. Myles Turner is a big man that still has some control left on his contract and this would interest teams.
The Pacers have been quickly thrown into a bit of a rebuild regarding their financial situation.

Making a deal involving Myles Turner would eliminate upwards of $17 million from the cap. In return, they would get two young prospects that can develop at their own pace in a situation with far less pressure.
The Pacers have become a staple in the postseason but they are not looking like that team here. Even if they get in, there are no championship aspirations for the Pacers and the offseason could already be on their mind.
