3 teams who must avoid overpaying Lonzo Ball in free agency

After having a lot of question marks surrounding his future and his play last season, Lonzo Ball looks like a completely different player this NBA season and is earning himself a lot of money, as he is set to become a restricted free agent in the offseason.

The Pelicans do have the ability to match any offer Ball receives this offseason, but with plenty of teams interested in signing the young point guard, the Pelicans will have to be willing to pay him a lot of money to keep him in New Orleans. He will be a major name to monitor in NBA rumors as free agency approaches.

Now in his fourth season in the league, Lonzo Ball has continued to improve as an all-around talent and this season, he currently ranks third on the Pelicans in scoring. In 41 games this year, Ball has averaged 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.4 steals and has shot 42.4% from the floor, 38.4% from three-point range.

Entering the league, there were a lot of concerns about Lonzo Ball as a scorer and shooter, but this season, he has turned himself into a real threat from beyond the arc.

Teams have already had to adjust their game plan for him because of his ability to be a floor general and facilitator, but now, he is getting better playing off-the-ball and is a real scoring threat from anywhere on the court.

At 23-years-old, Lonzo Ball is only going to continue to get better, which is why he will likely be earning himself a fairly large contract in the offseason. The only question is how large of a contract will Ball be offered and which teams should avoid overpaying the former #2 overall pick?
