Sign Kelly Oubre Jr. In NBA Free Agency

When looking at the Chicago Bulls’ lineup, they are pretty balanced and have players that can get it done in many ways. Kelly Oubre Jr. has a skillset that would fit in well. The Golden State Warriors were floating Oubre Jr. in NBA trade rumors but did not pull the trigger. He will be a free agent once the season is complete and the Warriors could let him go with Klay Thompson set to return from injury.

Kelly Oubre Jr. is scoring 15.3 points per game. He is an incredible athlete and can get to the rim at will. Oubre Jr. has been a strange fit in Golden State because he is not a huge three-point threat. Oubre Jr. is shooting 31% from beyond the arc this season but he’s capable of attacking defenses off-the-dribble.

The Bulls are full of shooters and could be looking to add a threat in the lane. Oubre Jr. would bring a new dynamic to the Bulls’ lineup. He can compete on both ends and continue their rebuild. It is unknown what the value surrounding Oubre Jr. is but Chicago will have some room to work with in NBA free agency.

There are a few factors in play for the Bulls that make pursuing a wing player in NBA free agency a need. For starters, Chicago moved on from Otto Porter Jr. at the NBA trade deadline after he continued to struggle with injuries. Secondly, the Bulls need to see more in Patrick Williams’ offensive development before they can trust him as a heavy minutes starter on the wing since they’re in win-now mode.

The Bulls are expected to be aggressive when the offseason comes around. Kelly Oubre Jr. should be high on their list of targets in NBA free agency. It’s important to not get stuck in a bad long-term deal with Oubre Jr., but he could provide a short-term boost as the team develops Patrick Williams.
