Why This Trade Would Benefit The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been rebuilding ever since LeBron James was sent to the Los Angeles Lakers. This is not an easy process in the NBA as you have to wait for draft picks to develop. This means Cleveland is heading in the right direction with a player like Sexton leading the way.
We saw Cleveland agree to a buyout with Andre Drummond and he ultimately signed with the Lakers. Kevin Love is another player they could be on the move in the offseason and this would continue the overhaul of the roster. The NBA is now dominated by guards and Simmons would bring a new dynamic to the Cavaliers.
They will not have to worry about his ability to shoot because Collins Sexton has shown that he has a dynamic scorer from all three levels. This is a move to add some more star power to a team looking to compete in a weak Eastern Conference.

It takes star-power to win in the NBA, or really any sport for that matter. The Cavaliers would be going all-in on a duo consisting of a versatile forward that guard any position and create plays for teammates at an elite level. Meanwhile, a high volume scoring guard that gets in ball handlers on the other end in Sexton would be Simmons’ complement.
The Cavaliers have plenty of assets that they have built up during their time over the past couple years. At some point, they will have to use it in a big deal and this could be just the one they were looking for.
