Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Philadelphia 76ers
How serious is it that Ben Simmons has not been able to develop a jumpshot? The answer will be different depending on who you ask. He is still scoring 15 points per game and adding 7.7 rebounds and 7.1 assist. He also leads to Sixers in steals per game. Simmons continues to fill up the statute but defenses didn’t have to worry about his three-point shot.
In a league that has been taken over by the three-point line, critics have come out against Simmons game recently. The Sixers have improved their three-point prowess by adding players like Seth Curry this past offseason. This has allowed them to take the next step in the Eastern Conference and that is showing each game.
Since the formulation of the duo, many were asking which player will emerge as a superstar for the 76ers between Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. With Embiid being an MVP candidate and Simmons still refusing to be a factor from beyond the arc, the answer is clear. Now, building around the obvious choice should be a priority and moving Simmons could be a legitimate way to do it.

There are additional benefits to consider in this situation. Darius Garland is showing legitimate improvement as a scoring threat and NBA player, in general. He is on a rookie contract while Larry Nance Jr. is a versatile forward that can make the 76ers an even more potent defensive threat.
Garland can knock down an open shot or score in the lane. He is a versatile player on both ends and would fit in with the Sixers well. This would be a complete blockbuster deal in the offseason for both sides.
