DeMar DeRozan – San Antonio Spurs

Ever since NBA free agency last season, many around the league have been asking about DeMar DeRozan and what the future holds for him. DeRozan was traded to the Spurs ahead of the start of the 2018-19 season when Kawhi Leonard was traded to the Raptors. Since then, the 4x All-Star has been the focal point of the San Antonio Spurs and their best player over the last three seasons.

It seems like DeRozan is always a guy that is overlooked and not appreciated for what he truly does. With the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan has been a floor general offensively and a key force for them defensively, as he is a really underrated one-on-one defender.

This season with the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan is averaging a career-high 7.1 assists per game and is shooting just under 50% from the floor. There are plenty of championship-contending teams that inquired about the availability of DeRozan at the trade deadline this season and that interest is expected to carry over into the offseason.

The Mavericks, Heat, Lakers, Clippers, Knicks and Bulls are just a few of the teams that have expressed interest in DeMar DeRozan over the last few months and there are many other teams that are expected to pursue the All-Star free agent when NBA free agency begins. He will certainly be a name to watch in NBA rumors.

While he is a very loyal person and enjoys playing in San Antonio, DeMar DeRozan could very much entertain other offers and make the most of his free agency. Cashing in on a long-term, high-paying contract seems to be the avenue DeRozan is heading towards and rightfully so.

This guy has sacrificed a lot over the course of his career and it seems like the one thing he has left to do is win a championship, so it would not be surprising to see DeMar DeRozan sign with a playoff-contending team that has a couple of high-level, All-Star caliber players to contend for a championship. It is a long-shot, but a return to Toronto may not be out of the question either if they can financially make that work.
