Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Clippers?

Assuming everything goes wrong for the Clippers, then yes, this trade makes sense for them. With a trio of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Russell Westbrook, the Clippers would definitely have a dominant trio in the NBA and turn themselves into real favorites in the Western Conference, but it would cost them basically their entire supporting cast.

Outside of Marcus Morris Sr, Rajon Rondo and Terance Mann, the Clippers would not have a supporting cast and would have to try to scramble for options to sign minimum contracts. Overall though, there is definitely a ton of upside that can come to the Clippers by trading for Westbrook.

This team has virtually no ways to build their team through the draft over the next few years and with not a lot of young talent, they basically have to go “all-out” on their chances to win a championship, which is why this move could make sense.

Russell Westbrook has been a triple-double machine with the Wizards this season and if he is willing to work on his role if he was to join the Clippers, then he could fit right in and help them win their first championship in franchise history.

When James Harden joined the Brooklyn Nets in January, he was okay with changing his role that he had been accustomed to in Houston and doing whatever it took to help the Nets win. Now, Brooklyn has the best record in the East and they are considered the favorites to win the championship this season.

Pulling a move out of James Harden’s “book” and adapting to his new role in Los Angeles could do wonders for Westbrook and potentially the Clippers as well. Forming this All-Star, superstar trio of Leonard, George and Westbrook could be what this team needs to win a championship, but it could also be detrimental and result in yet more postseason disappointments.
