Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are the ultimate win-now team in the league. They have suffered some injuries that have pushed them back a bit in the standings but will still be a favorite to come out of the Western Conference once the postseason rolls around. When they move toward the offseason, we could see them become aggressive once again.
This is where Buddy Hield would come into play. He has taken his entire offensive game to the next level but still thrives from beyond the arc. He is a starting-caliber player that can step in and contribute right away.
The Lakers did not make moves at the NBA trade deadline which means they could be working toward more in the offseason. LeBron James and Anthony Davis makeup the best duo in the league when healthy and the front office could still attempt to put quality players around them.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope isn’t a dynamic enough offensive threat to help the Lakers much in a title run. He’s a respectable shooter but outside of catch-and-shoot looks and basic play finishing, he’s not really going to provide a spark at the two spot. Buddy Hield would be an upgrade in this regard and would have dynamic potential alongside LeBron James.
The Lakers have been linked to many big-name players since the offseason. There has not been a deal made but that could change once the season is complete. They will need to re-sign some of their players by exceeding the salary cap and that will require roster upgrades to have to come using trade scenarios.
