Why This Trade Would Benefit The Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards sent away one half of their dynamic duo and it could finally be time to send the other half away. Bradley Beal was drafted by Washington with the third-overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and has been in D.C. ever since. With the team trending down, this is a chance for the team to land a huge return for one of the top players in the league.

Bogdanovic was one of the offseason additions for the Hawks and it has not worked to this point. He has played in 22 games and could be looking for a change of scenery. Okongwu would be the most intriguing part of the deal and it is because of his potential.

After being selected in the first round this year, Onyeka Okongwu is playing just over eight minutes a night and is not contributing much. He has not had time to develop but this is something he could do on the Wizards. He had intriguing potential coming into the 2020 NBA Draft and there’s little reason to have a change of perception.

Beal would also warrant multiple first-round picks. This is a deal that would not hurt the Wizards because they have been coming in last place with Beal. They can certainly do it without him. Instead, they’d become a far deeper team by adding multiple starters as they continue to progress in their rebuilding efforts.

Beal has overstayed his welcome in Washington and it is not his fault. Sometimes two sides just grow apart and that is what happened with his time with the Wizards. There simply doesn’t appear to be much of a pathway for management to surround him with a competent supporting cast in the near future.
