Why This Trade Would Benefit The Atlanta Hawks
The benefit for the Atlanta Hawks is easy in this deal. They are a rebuilding team looking to take the next step and have a chance to acquire the league’s leading scorer. Beal is showing that he is still improving and that is a scary thought for the league. Atlanta has been aggressive and this would be a new level that we have not seen.
The Hawks attempted to sign John Collins to a $90 million extension in the offseason but he did not accept. There is no guarantee that he will be back in Atlanta next season, which means the team needs to do all they can to fill the hole left. However, they could decide to go all-in for a second All-Star before matching any offer sheet that comes Collins’ way.
The offseason acquisitions have been uninspiring but there is always next year. Atlanta is still fighting for a postseason appearance so it is likely that they are not planning on the offseason just yet but this deal is a no-brainer if it comes about.

Beal has been loyal to the Wizards but it could be time for a change of scenery because Washington is not close to competing. At some point, it’s hard to believe that he won’t become fed up with the constant underachieving the team has done during his time there.
Atlanta has not found many moves that have been good to this point. There is no doubt that Bradley Beal would be a welcomed addition and bring the Hawks to another level. Trae Young would be a truly dynamic backcourt partner for him and they’d be able to rise up the Eastern Conference standings in 2021-22.
