Why This Trade Would Benefit The New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have not been a relevant team in the Western Conference. They have two pieces for the future but this is not a team that is ready to win or is close to competing. If Lonzo Ball is not apart of the future, then this is something that would help the team right away.

The front office has a decision to make regarding their shooting guard. He was one of the pieces that came back in the deal that sent Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers. He has not been able to get comfortable and is not on the level of Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram.

The return would not be huge but it would land them a starting-caliber guard in Will Barton and some draft capital. This ultimately comes down to what the front office decides to do with Lonzo Ball and if they want to move him at the NBA trade deadline.
