Any Draft Compensation/Draft Picks
The San Antonio Spurs are always a quiet organization when it comes to the moves they are going to make, but with them making LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan available in trade talks, it is pretty clear that the Spurs are interested in improving their draft assets.
WIth plenty of young talents on this roster and them being comfortable moving on from veteran players, the Spurs seem to want to try and make a playoff run with the young players they have, which is why going out and gaining more draft compensation/draft picks and the trade deadline may be their target.
DeRozan, Aldridge, Mills and Gay are the only four players on the Spurs roster that are 30+ years old and although they do not have much experience in the league as a team, the Spurs seem like they are one piece away from being a dangerous team in the West.
This young team’s ability to play defense and buy-in to this philosophy as a team is quite impressive, which is why San Antonio has given a lot of their young talents a chance to prove themselves this year, making some of their veteran players expendiable. The Spurs will probably wind up holding onto DeRozan at the NBA trade deadline, but moving Aldridge, assuming he is not bought out, should bring the Spurs one or two draft picks.

The main goal of the Spurs moving forward should obviously be to try and make the playoffs, but they need to continue building this team through the draft. They have never been big spenders in free agency and have never really been an organization to attract big name players, but they have always been known to develop championship teams through the draft.
For that reason alone is why the Spurs will look to acquire some draft assets at the trade deadline at the expense of some of their veteran talents. Overall though, it seems more than likely that the Spurs will not make a trade and instead be forced to buyout LaMarcus Aldridge.
