Aaron Gordon – Orlando Magic
Over the last month, there have been a lot of talks about the Orlando Magic being “sellers” at the trade deadline due to their struggles this year and now, these rumors are true as Aaron Gordon has requested a trade from the Magic according to The Athletic’s Jared Weiss.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been a team that has been targeting Gordon over the last few weeks, but now the Boston Celtics have emerged as one of the few teams that are in pursuit of the versatile forward and could have a strong chance to acquire him. Boston has plenty of draft assets to offer up, as well as some young players in Payton Pritchard, Aaron Nesmith, Romeo Langford and Grant Williams.
Boston’s frontcourt has been a mess for years now, which is exactly why adding Aaron Gordon makes sense for them. He can not only play the power-forward position and help the Celtics remain aggressive in the paint on both ends of the court, but Gordon is more than capable of playing the small-forward position and being a factor offensively.
Now in his 7th season, Aaron Gordon is averaging 14.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and is shooting 40.2% from three-point range. He could take a ton of pressure off of the Celtics’ three All-Star caliber players and be that fourth, high-level scoring option they need, especially since they have one of the worst benches in the entire league in terms of offensive production.

They need that extra spark in their starting rotation and a player in their frontcourt that can contribute in many different ways, which is why adding Gordon, a versatile forward, makes a ton of sense.
The Celtics are also rumored to be targeting some other high-level forwards ahead of the deadline, but they have emerged as a serious contender to trade for Aaron Gordon and probably have the best assets out of any other team to offer up.
