Why this trade makes sense for the Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers love what they have in Myles Turner and while there are a handful of teams that have expressed interest in him, the Pacers will reportedly only trade Turner if the trade “blows them away.” This trade scenario with the Knicks definitely has a ton of value in terms of future assets, but does this trade really help them in their playoff pursuit this season?
With T.J. Warren still being sidelined due to a foot injury and Caris LeVert just now working his way into the Pacers’ rotations, getting rid of one of their most productive players may not be the best move, even though they would be receiving a ton of value in this trade.
They would be essentially giving up Myles Turner for two young players that are still growing and two first-round picks that the Pacers would have to hope turn out to be really solid players. While Mitchell Robinson has been solid at times in his young career, he is still only in his third season and has plenty of room to grow into a reliable center in this league.

With the talent that Myles Turner possesses and him being one of the best shot-blockers in the league, the Pacers would likely want to receive plenty of talent that can help them win games now, as well as a couple of valuable draft picks that can help them build around their star-studded core.
They definitely get the draft picks in this trade scenario with the Knicks, but do they really get plenty of talent to help them win games now? The answer is simply no and as a result, the Pacers will likely hold off on dealing Myles Turner at the trade deadline this season.
