Why this trade makes sense for the Miami Heat
Avery Bradley and Maurice Harkless do not really bring anything to the table to the Heat right now, which is why trading them and a protected first-round pick in 2025 for Spencer Dinwiddie makes a ton of sense. Their roster right now is already constructed to compete for a championship and they could still be gearin up to make a run at an All-Star caliber player like Victor Oladipo at the trade deadline.
Going out and trading for Spencer Dinwiddie while giving up minimal value would be a great addition that could help the Heat next year. If they do pursue Oladipo, they will have to likely give up some of their young talents in Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and/or Kendrick Nunn, which would open up a spot in the rotation for another high-level guard like Dinwiddie.
The idea of trading for Oladipo and talking about his future is all hypothetical right now, especially since the Heat are tight on salary space and tradable assets as it is, but going out and trading for Dinwiddie gives them a player that can help them next season in their pursuit to remain a championship contender.

The Heat are going to be making a big move at some point within the next year or two to bring in another All-Star talent to pair with Butler and Adebayo, which is why they need to make moves like this one. Going out and getting a high-level talent like Spencer Dinwiddie on an affordable contract makes a ton of sense for the Miami Heat.
Him being out this year does not help their chances of winning a title, but neither do Avery Braldey or Maurice Harkless at this point, which is why flipping these two guys and a draft pick for Spencer Dinwiddie would be a really solid move by the Heat’s front-office.
