Miami Heat Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie

Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Avery Bradley, F Maurice Harkless, MIA 2025 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected)

Last season, Spencer Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and shot 41.5% from the floor and 30.8% from three-point range. With both KD and Kyrie out last season, Dinwiddie emerged as a leader for the Nets and was one of the main reasons they ended up making the playoffs.

While there’s definitely a concern for a player returning from an ACL injury, Dinwiddie is a high-level and a highly talented point guard that is an excellent playmaker and facilitator. He can make those around him better while still being one of the better offensive options for his team, which is why he could be a great fit with the Miami Heat.

After just acquiring Trevor Ariza, the Miami Heat do not have much room to acquire another fairly large contract, especially for a player that can not help them in their championship pursuit this season, but they have been actively shopping some of their veteran players like Avery Bradley and Maurice Markless, both of which could be included in a trade package to acquire Dinwiddie.

Avery Bradley has only played in 10 games this season with the Heat due to various injuries and health concerns, but he is still viewed as an elite perimeter defender and a veteran guard that can easily contribute to a championship-caliber team. For that reason alone is why Brooklyn would be interested in him since they are not that great of a defensive team.

Mo Harkless is another veteran player that is known for his perimeter defense, but he has not played much with the Heat this year. With Dinwiddie being out for the year, it seems logical for the Nets to leverage him to get two experienced guys that could definitely contribute when their number is called.

Not to mention, the Nets also get a future first-round pick in this deal, which is definitely valuable to them since they gave up almost all of their draft capital back in January to acquire James Harden.

Now, let’s’ take a closer look as to why this trade could make sense for both the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets.
