This Magic-Warriors trade is focused on Aaron Gordon

Why this trade makes sense for the Golden State Warriors

While Golden State does have Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and rookie James Wiseman in their frontcourt, they are not a great rebounding team and these three guys combined account for less than 20% of the Warriors’ total offensive production per game.

The Warriors get almost no scoring output from their frontcourt, which is why adding Aaron Gordon could make a ton of sense for them. Not only can he score in the low-post/the paint, but Gordon is more than capable of being a “stretch 4” and playing from the perimeter.

His athleticism and versatility makes him a very underrated power-forward in the league and while he may have reached the peak of what he will be in the NBA, Aaron Gordon is still an impactful forward that could definitely help the Warriors in their efforts to make it back to the playoffs.

As stated before, the Warriors are not that strong of an offensive team, as they rank 22nd in the league in offensive efficiency, and outside of Stephen Curry, they do not have any true reliable offensive threats. Gordon has proven to be a more reliable player on the offensive-end of the court than Kelly Oubre Jr. this year and with him still being relatively young and under contract, Aaron Gordon could become a part of the Warriors core moving forward.

The only question for the Warriors is if they see Kelly Oubre Jr. in their long-term plans. He was really solid for them during the month of February, but overall this year, Oubre Jr. has not been the reliable secondary scorer they have needed him to be.

If Golden State truly wants to make a big move and be aggressive at the trade deadline this year, then going after Aaron Gordon and pairing him up with Curry, Wiggins and Green could ultimately better the Warriors’ chances of making the playoffs this year.
