The Golden State Warriors have created a dynasty over the years and have completely changed the way the game of basketball is played in the NBA. From what was once a big man-oriented game has completely changed to being about the three-point shot, and a big part of that is because of what the Warriors did with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
Not only are these two guys two of the best three-point shooters of all-time, but they allowed Golden State to build a team that relies on the three-point shot and playing smaller lineups without a true big man on the court based on analytics. The numbers say there is a better chance of winning with five potential shooters on the court rather than three or four and as a result, the league as a whole has become more reliant on three-pointers than mid-range shots and dunks.
After all of the injuries this organization faced last year, the Warriors’ streak of five consecutive NBA Finals appearances was snapped and they are in jeopardy of not just missing The Finals, but the playoffs again due to Klay Thompson being out for the year with an Achilles injury and because there are so many new faces on this team.
Steph Curry has continued to prove why he is a real MVP candidate every single year and with other guys in Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr. and rookie James Wiseman stepping up at times, the Warriors definitely have a realistic shot at making the playoffs in the Western Conference, but they will have to be aggressive at the NBA trade deadline.
