This Clippers-Pacers trade sends Myles Turner to L.A.

Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

The Indiana Pacers love what they have in Myles Turner and while there are a handful of teams that have expressed interest in him, the Pacers will reportedly only trade Turner if the trade “blows them away.” This trade scenario with the Clippers should not really blow anybody away because both Marcus Morris Sr. and Patrick Patterson are 31-years-old and the only real value the Pacers get in this trade is a 2027 first-round pick.

They would be essentially giving up Myles Turner for a veteran role player, some second-round picks and then holding out hope that this first-round pick in 2027 would be valuable. For a team that has been to the playoffs for five consecutive seasons and a team that is looking to put the pieces together to be a contender in the East, this trade makes absolutely no sense.

If the Pacers do decide that they want to trade Myles Turner, they can absolutely get more value from another team. The Clippers just do not have the draft capital to be able to put together a convincing trade package for any big-name player in this league.

With the talent that Myles Turner possesses and him being one of the best shot-blockers in the league, the Pacers would likely want to receive plenty of talent that can help them win games now, as well as a couple of valuable draft picks that can help them build around their star-studded core.

Los Angeles simply does not have these kinds of assets and as a result, finding a way to make a deal for Myles Turner is virtually impossible for them. In this scenario above, the best thing the Pacers could do is hold off on dealing Turner this season.
