Los Angeles Clippers Receive: C Myles Turner

Indiana Pacers Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr, F Patrick Patterson, ATL 2022 2nd Round Pick, LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick, LAC 2027 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected)

As a result of the Clippers having virtually no draft capital, it would be very hard for them to pursue any big name at the trade deadline, especially someone like Myles Turner who is not really available.

Based on recent NBA trade rumors, the Indiana Pacers have shot down all trade talks pertaining to Myles Turner over the last few weeks and they intend to keep him through this season, but for the right offer things could change. While they would definitely want a heavy amount of draft compensation for him, they could still salvage some value in this trade with the Clippers.

Marcus Morris Sr. has been putting together a really solid season for Los Angeles and recently moved into the starting rotation as a result. This season, Morris is averaging 11.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and is shooting a career-high 45.4% from three-point range.

The best aspect of the veteran forward’s game is that he can play on the perimeter or in the low-post. Standing about 6’8”, he is able to use his size to back-in smaller defenders and with his shooting abilities from the perimeter, Marcus Morris Sr. is definitely one of the more dangerous and undervalued role players in the league.

While the Pacers definitely have a lot of versatility on the wing with Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday, Doug McDermott and now Caris LeVert, they are missing T.J. Warren which hurts them at the small-forward and power-forward position. With almost no depth behind Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner in the frontcourt, Marcus Morris Sr. could be a great addition for them to add some depth at both forward positions.

It seems unlikely that this is the kind of value that the Pacers would want for Myles Turner, especially since he is one of the best defensive big men in the league today, but this is probably the best trade the Clippers could offer Indiana for him.

With that said, let’s take a closer look as to if this trade makes sense for both the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Clippers.
