Why this trade makes sense for the Miami Heat:
Outside of Bam Adebayo, the Miami Heat do not have any reliable frontcourt options, which is a major problem for them right now. With the lack of production next to Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler at times has been the “power-forward” for the Heat, giving them a small lineup that many teams can punish in the paint.
Adding a player like Larry Nance Jr. not only improves the Heat’s overall roster and gives them yet another highly-skilled player, but it gives them a player who can play 30+ minutes a night next to Adebayo. Not to mention, Nance Jr. would fit Miami’s system perfectly since he is a very strong defender.
One of the main reasons why Larry Nance Jr. is a special player that has a high value right now on the trade market is because he is a very versatile big man. While he is only about 6’7”, Nance Jr. can guard virtually any position and can score against virtually any position.
Having a guy like Larry Nance Jr. be the center in some rotations for the Heat not only allow them to put more shooters out on the court, but have the ability to still be an effective defensive team without Bam Adebayo. Being able to disrupt passing lanes and play physical defense is why the versatile forward would be a great trade target for Miami.

Giving up a young player in Precious Achiuwa definitely impacts the Heat moving forward in terms of future talent and success, but Larry Nance Jr. is only 28-years old and can be a part of Miami’s frontcourt with Bam Adebayo for years to come. The only question about trading for him is what the Heat would have to give up in return to get him.
Seeing as the Cavaliers really like Nance’s upside and have not made him available in trade talks, they could ask for a lot of value in-return for him, which could prevent the Heat from making this trade. This is probably the best trade the Miami Heat can offer for Larry Nance Jr. and if the Cavaliers are willing to move him, then the Heat should be willing to act on this trade proposal.
