Why This Trade Makes Sense For The New York Knicks

Trading for Karl-Anthony Towns would be the best move the Knicks organization has made in a while. If they can keep both Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett in a trade with the Timberwolves for Towns, then they have automatically won the trade because of how good these three guys can be together.

Sure, Quickley, Toppin and Robinson are all young talents that have a lot of potential, but none of them are going to grow into the type of All-Star talent that Towns is. When healthy, Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best players in the NBA and in New York, he could really see his career take off.

Not only would he finally be on a good team, but he would have the supporting cast around him to potentially put him in the MVP conversation. Julius Randle is a terrific all-around talent and R.J. Barrett is coming into his own as a high-level scoring talent, giving the Knicks three All-Star caliber players to contend with in the East.

There is no downside to trading for Towns other than the fact that the Knicks would be losing young talents, but Towns is just 25-years old himself. He is going to be a high-level talent for the next decade and can be one of the core players the Knicks could build with over the next several years in hopes to potentially win another championship.

Whatever Minnesota wants for Towns, the Knicks should be willing to offer because of how good of a player he is. Karl-Anthony Towns can change this Knicks franchise forever and potentially help make them the best team in the league in a matter of years.

Finding a way to trade for Karl-Anthony Towns at the trade deadline is the best thing the Knicks can do this season in their attempt to not only make the playoffs, but prove to everyone around the league that they are there to stay for years to come.
