Wayne Ellington – Detroit Pistons
While he is not talked about much, Wayne Ellington has been linked to the Los Angeles Clippers for a few weeks now and there is definitely mutual interest between the two sides. Ellington has been a really solid role player for the Detroit Pistons this season and is currently averaging 10.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and shooting 43.3% from three-point range.
Believe it or not, the Los Angeles Clippers are the top three-point shooting team based on percentage this season (41.9 3P%), which is why Ellington could be a great fit. He is the epitome of a catch-and-shoot wing and with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George drawing all of the attention, he could be a perfect knock-down shooter sitting in the corner for them.
The best part about Wayne Ellington is that he signed a one-year, $2.56M contract with the Pistons before the season, making things very easy for the Clippers in terms of trading for him. The Clippers are $29.2M over the salary cap and do not have the ability to bring in large contracts without moving a bunch of players around and off their roster, which is why Wayne Ellington makes sense for them.

He is very affordable and he is a veteran player who wants to win games, which is exactly why Los Angeles is a great fit for him. Three-point shooting is a large part of what the Clippers do and with Wayne Ellington, this team could become an even better perimeter-oriented team.
With them chasing a championship this year, it makes complete sense for the Clippers to look to add Wayne Ellington at the expense of one or two second-round picks and maybe a player like Mfiondu Kabengele or Terance Mann.
