This Celtics-Thunder trade reunites Al Horford in Boston

The Boston Celtics are currently 19-17 and fourth in the Eastern Conference. This might be the position they expected to be in but the record is a bit lower than they hoped. The Celtics are certainly taking advantage of a weak conference outside of the top three. As we approach the NBA trade deadline, the Celtics are a team that could be looking to make some improvements.

These improvements could be in the frontcourt. This was a glaring need in the offseason but they did not make any moves aside from signing Tristan Thompson in free agency. So far, the duo of Thompson and Daniel Theis has left much to be desired.

There are some big men on the trading block but the Celtics could go with a familiar name. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have had strong offensive seasons but are alone on that end of the floor and have not done much to make their teammates better.

A big man would space the floor a bit more and give the Celtics another weapon that opposing defenses have to worry about. Al Horford spent time with Boston during his career and could be on his way back in a deal such as this one.

Horford was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder as a salary dump for the Philadelphia 76ers. So far, he does not fit into the plan for the Thunder moving forward and could be used as a trade piece. It would be interesting to see the Celtics make a call on their former big.

This would reunite the two sides in hopes of improving the unit in Boston. Here is what a potential deal might look like at the NBA trade deadline.
