1. Patty Mills, Guard, San Antonio Spurs
Finally, there is one under-the-radar trade target that the Lakers must consider. That would be Spurs’ veteran guard Patty Mills.
We have been talking about the Lakers’ need for more perimeter shooting. Well, outside of guys like JJ Redick, there are not many available that would be better than Mills.
On the season, Mills has shot 40.2 percent from the three-point line. He has averaged 13.3 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per game. Mills is the kind of player who can play 20 minutes per game and knock down five threes.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis need a spot-up shooter like Mills who can also create his own shot and handle the ball. Mills seems like a perfect fit for this Lakers team. It would be smart for Pelinka and company to pursue him at the deadline.
