Houston Rockets Receive: G Tyler Herro, F Andre Iguodala, MIA 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected), MIA 2025 1st Round Pick

Victor Oladipo to the Miami Heat has been a common fixture of NBA trade rumors have been going on for months now, but this time, they may actually be true. Oladipo reportedly wants to play in Miami and with plenty of trade assets, the Heat could realistically make this happen.

Giving up Tyler Herro would not be something the Heat would be too keen on, which is why they would need an agreement ahead of time from Victor Oladipo that he would be signing with the Heat long-term at the conclusion of the season.

Getting Oladipo would be a major upgrade from Tyler Herro for the Heat, even though Herro has a very bright future. Herro is more of an offensive weapon whereas Oladipo can play both ends of the court, making him a valuable trade target for the Heat.

This season has been a roller coaster ride for the Houston Rockets as they have gone from being a playoff contender, to a playoff hopeful, to going into a rebuild and being one of the worst teams in the league. They have lost 11 straight games, the longest active losing streak in the league and over this span, they have lost by an average of 17.4 points per game!

This is absolutely ridiculous and has led the Rockets to having close to a 0% chance of making the playoffs at this rate. While they are technically still alive in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference, this team virtually have no scoring threats outside of John Wall and Eric Gordon, making them an easy team to defend and a team nobody in the league is fearful of anymore.

The best thing they can do is continue to trade away some of their assets for high-level, young talents and draft picks to try and rebuild as quickly as possible. They are no longer in contention in the Western Conference, so trading away Victor Oladipo while he still holds a lot of value makes a ton of sense.

Houston traded for Victor Oladipo with the initial mindset of pairing him with John Wall in the backcourt, but if they can get a deal for some high-level young talent, the Rockets would definitely consider trading away Oladipo, especially since they are in a position where they are trying to make the best moves to set them up for future success.

With that being said, let’s take a closer look as to why this trade makes sense for both the Houston Rockets and the Miami Heat.
