Dallas Mavericks – Victor Oladipo

This would be quite the blockbuster trade to happen near the trade deadline, but it is not too crazy to believe could happen. The Mavericks and Rockets are bitter in-state rivals, but this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Victor Oladipo is in the final year of his contract and with the Rockets beginning to “tank” it could make a lot of sense for them to trade him now while his value is still high, especially since they can get plenty of young talent and draft picks from the Mavericks in return. 

For the Mavericks, they need that third, reliable scoring option next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis and Oladipo could be the perfect match for them. Not only does he fill a scoring void on the wing for them, but he is more than capable of pulling his weight defensively, an area on the floor that Dallas currently ranks near the bottom of the league in. 

Getting Victor Oladipo to pair with Doncic and Porzingis would be a huge statement by the Mavericks and potentially be enough firepower to help them contend for a title. Not only would they have three All-Star caliber players, but they would also have Josh Richardson, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson, all of which are high-impact secondary scorers.

If this opportunity comes their way to acquire Oladipo, the Mavericks should not think twice and be willing to part with any young talents the Rockets would want in return. This move makes too much sense for Dallas to pass up on and it is a move that could set them up for a deep playoff run this season.
