The idea has resurfaced that the Los Angeles Clippers are interested in acquiring a veteran point guard. This is something that we have been discussing for months now because of their need at the position. This was obvious during the NBA postseason a year ago and it is continuing to be a glaring need within the roster.
Los Angeles is without a doubt one of the top teams in the Western Conference and a championship contender. It is going to be an extremely difficult road if they want to win the title but they have the star power to do it. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both playing great basketball at the halfway point of the season.
The lack of depth at the point guard position has put Patrick Beverley back in the starting role and this is something that needs to change. As we approach the NBA trade deadline, we could see the Clippers be aggressive in their pursuit of a guard. This will be something to monitor in NBA trade rumors.
If Los Angeles is looking to upgrade, they could take advantage of every building team looking to unload. The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team that immediately comes to mind.

At 7-26, Minnesota is at the bottom of the conference and arguably the worst team in basketball. That is not going to change for quite some time, which means they should begin to unload some of their veteran players. This includes Ricky Rubio.
This would be an interesting deal for the Clippers to go after. It would not come extremely expensive and would land them a point guard who knows how to navigate an offense. Let’s take a look at what this deal could look like any upcoming weeks.
