Why This Trade Would Benefit The Houston Rockets
The contract situation of Tucker is a factor for both sides here. Houston has not been willing to sign him to an extension. This has caused some disgruntled feeling’s from Tucker. At this point, it makes sense to send him away before he is eligible to leave in free agency.
Both Tucker and Gordon have been featured in trade talks because the Rockets want to clear house and start over. That is what the front office has began doing. Tucker is not a long-term option for this team, neither is Cousins, so it makes sense to find a trade partner right away.
In return, they would get a cheap player who is under contract for three years. Saric has a lot of potential but has been unable to reach it because of injuries and opportunity. He would have plenty of chances for a rebuilding team like the Rockets.
We have seen plenty of big moves from Houston in recent months and we might not be done just yet. It will be interesting to see what they do as we get closer and closer to the deadline.
